The Bureau of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) has commended the model of former servicemen coming together to work for peace, calling for its emulation by other African countries. This follows a meeting between the leadership of the Pan-African Parliament, led by Hon. Chief Fortune Charumbira, and Kenya Veterans for Peace (KVP).

The meeting, held on the margins of the African Union 5th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting in Nairobi, aimed to explore ways for the Pan-African Parliament and the KVP to collaborate on issues of peace and security in the region and throughout the continent. The KVP is a group of retired military men and women who are working for peace in Africa.

The Organization draws membership from the Retired Military Personnel in all sister services Of Kenya Defence Forces. They have played a major role in United Nations (UN)/Africa Union (AU) Peace Keeping, Peace Building, Security Operations, Anti-Human Trafficking Operations, Climate Change, and Development Programs in various areas across Kenya, regionally, and globally.

The President of the Pan-African Parliament has extended an invitation to the KVP to make a presentation at the next Sitting of Parliament on the organization and its work in the areas of peace-building and conflict resolution.

In line with the strategic objectives of the Pan-African Parliament, peace and security in Africa have featured prominently on the agenda of the political leadership since taking over the helm of the continental parliamentary body.

On 30 June 2023, the Pan-African Parliament held a consultative meeting with the African Union Peace and Security Council (PSC). The consultation ended with a call to strengthen collaboration and promote peace. The PSC commended the Pan-African Parliament for its contribution to the promotion of peace, security, and stability, and for representing the African people in the development and integration of the Continent.

The final communique of the consultation further encouraged the Pan-African Parliament to consider forging close working relations with similar organizations from other Continents or regions, in order to galvanize support for African interests, as well as to enhance collaboration and cooperation in addressing issues relating to the promotion of peace, security, democracy, and good governance in the Continent.
