On the margins of the sitting of Permanent Committees currently underway at its seat in Midrand, South Africa, the Pan-African Parliament hosted a workshop on the African Union Theme for 2025. The workshop covered historical contexts and justification for reparations; legal frameworks and precedents; parliamentary and policy interventions; diaspora engagement; and case studies on reparations movements.

The workshop, held yesterday with key stakeholders including all members of the Pan-African Parliament , African Union institutions, and civil society organizations, sought to share information about the theme of the year and provide highlights on the activities within the roadmap.

The workshop also provided an opportunity to discuss key roles that members of the Pan-African Parliament can play in contributing to the implementation of the roadmap on the theme of the year for 2025.
