The Pan-African Parliament welcomes the reaction of the African Union over the allegations of ill-treatment suffered by African citizens in China.

The Pan-African Parliament welcomes the reaction of the African Union through which the Chairperson of the Commission has expressed the Union's extreme concern over the allegations of ill-treatment suffered by African citizens in China.

The continental Parliament also acknowledges efforts undertaken by South Africa, the chair of our Union, as well as the African Group of Ambassadors in Beijing to engage with the Chinese authorities on this matter.

The legislative organ of the African Union deplores such discriminatory acts against citizens of a Continent which maintains very good relations with China.

Finally, the Pan-African Parliament calls on the Chinese authorities to combat and eliminate such acts and enable an environment of peace, security and tranquility for Africans living in China.
