The Pan-African Parliament Bureau, led by H.E. Dr. Fateh Boutbig, met virtually with representatives from the Parliament of South Africa, including Rt. Hon. Thoko Didiza, Speaker of the National Assembly. This meeting marked the first bilateral engagement for the Bureau of the Seventh Legislature of the Pan-African Parliament since taking office on 30 April 2026.
Both parties pledged to strengthen their existing collaboration as the Continental Parliament enters its new phase. The Bureau acknowledged and expressed gratitude to South Africa for the support and facilities provided to the Pan-African Parliament over the past twenty years.
The Speaker of the National Assembly of South Africa congratulated the Bureau on its election, which adhered to the Unionโs principle of equitable, regular, and predictable regional rotation. The election ensured balanced representation across gender as well as the five regions of the continent.
