The Joint Meeting of the Bureau, Bureaux of the Permanent Committees, Regional Caucuses, Women’s Caucus, and Youth Caucus has officially adopted the programme for the Sitting of Permanent Committees and other Organs of Parliament, scheduled to take place from 16 to 20 September 2024.

This leadership meeting, held prior to statutory sessions, ensures that the programme aligns with the Pan-African Parliament’s strategic objectives, the African Union’s broader agenda, and the aspirations of constituencies across the continent.

The Sitting of the Permanent Committees and Other Organs will be conducted under the African Union’s 2024 theme: "Educating an African Fit for the 21st Century: Building Resilient Education Systems for Increased Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, Quality, and Relevant Learning in Africa.” Key events during this period will also include the 12th Conference of Speakers of National and Regional Parliaments, which will be preceded by the Annual Meeting of Clerks of African Parliaments.

In addition, the Joint Meeting extensively reviewed the report on the statutory Sitting of the Committees, expressing deep concern over the persistent budgetary constraints hindering the Pan-African Parliament’s ability to fully execute its mandate. Presentations on ongoing resource mobilization efforts were given, and the meeting resolved to take further actions aimed at addressing these challenges at the African Union executive level.

The session concluded with a presentation on the methodology for developing the Pan-African Strategic Plan 2025–2028, alongside the formulation of the 2025 workplans.
