As part of preparatory engagements leading up to the Mid-Year Summit in Nairobi, the President of the Pan-African Parliament will join other Heads of AU Organs for a strategic review workshop of the African Governance Architecture (AGA) on the 12th.
As the operationalisation of AGA passes the ten years mark, the workshop is an opportune time to look back, take stock of the achievements and challenges that have faced AGP and draw lessons to inform and influence the work of AGA over the next ten years. Thus, the first statutory Meeting of the African Governance Platform, which was held alongside the 36th Ordinary Session of the AU Assembly held from 13-14 February 2023 in the AU HQ Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, decided to convene a Strategic Reflection for the Platform Members and stakeholders.
The AGA Strategic reflection is expected to galvanize the Platform and Secretariat towards consolidating the gains since its establishment and look forward to having a practical framework that works to improve the democratic governance, human right, peace and security landscape.
The African Governance Architecture (AGA) was established in 2012 vide Assembly Decision (AU/Dec.304 (XV) as a comprehensive, overarching, consolidated and coordinated framework for addressing governance and governance-related opportunities, challenges, and structural causes of political instability and crisis in Africa.
The President of the Pan-African Parliament is accompanied in these engagements by 1st Vice President, Hon. Prof. Massouda Mohamed Laghdaf (Mrs.); 2nd Vice President, Hon.
