On behalf of the Bureau and the entire membership of the Pan-African Parliament, I extend our deepest condolences to the Odinga family, the Government, the Parliament of Kenya, the Kenyan delegation to the Pan-African Parliament, and the people of Kenya following the untimely death of Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, the former Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya, who was called to higher glory on Wednesday 15th October 2025.
A cherished leader and a transcendental force in the landscape of African politics, Rt. Hon. Odinga’s departure is a tragic and irreplaceable loss not only for the people of Kenya but for the entirety of the African continent.
Rt. Hon. Odinga was more than just a former Prime Minister of Kenya. He symbolised the spirit of resilience and enduring hope for a better Kenya and a better Africa. A sonorous and fearless voice for the voiceless, his unwavering commitment to democracy, good governance, and the advancement of human rights has decimated barriers of inequity and ensured that the voices of the marginalized and disenfranchised are heard and respected, in line with the ideals of the Pan-African Parliament.
Throughout his illustrious career, the late Rt. Hon. Odinga championed not just national issues but also continental integration and advancement. His role as the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa, among other high - profile positions, highlighted his dedication to fostering durable integration and unity among African nations.
As we mourn the impactful life of a legend of Africa, we must draw consolation from the legacy he left behind — a legacy defined by his courage, tenacity, and unyielding belief in the power of dialogue, the justice of inclusivity and the transformative strength of African unity.
May we all find comfort in honouring the exemplary life of a man who selflessly dedicated himself to the service of our beloved continent. As we reflect on his contributions, let us renew our commitment to the values he championed: justice, democracy, and unity.
May his dear departed soul rest in eternal peace.
