The eleven (11) permanent committees of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) are scheduled to meet from 20 to 24 November 2023 in three (3) different member states of the African Union (AU): Burundi, Ethiopia, and South Africa, which is the headquarters of the Parliament.
Among other items on the agenda of these crucial encounters, the committees are expected to delve into the state of Migration; Human Rights and progress on the African Charter on Democracy and Governance (ACDEG); Training on Parliamentary Diplomacy, Oversight, and Advocacy; Evaluation of the current Strategic Plan of the Pan-African Parliament for 2019-2023, and the strategic direction of the new Strategic Plan for 2024-2028.
The announcement was made by Hon. Dr. Ashebir W. Gayo, Acting President of the Pan-African Parliament, through correspondence to the Speakers of national deliberative institutions.
The Permanent Committees are scheduled to meet jointly as follows:
Bujumbura, Burundi 20 -24 November 2023:
The Committee on Health, Labour and Social Affairs; Committee on Monetary and Financial Affairs; Committee on Gender, Family, Youth and People with Disability and Committee on Justice and Human Rights.
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: 20-24 November 2023:
The Committee on Audit and Public Accounts (CAPA) the Committee on Rules, Privileges and Discipline; the Committee on Trade, Customs and Immigration Matters and the Committee on Rural Economy, Agriculture, Natural Resources and the Environment.
Midrand, South Africa: 20-24 November 2023:
The Committee on Transport, Industry, Communications, Energy, Science and Technology; the Committee on Cooperation, International Relations and Conflict Resolutions and the Committee on Education, Culture, Tourism and Human Resources.
